Remnants left from Islamic terror groups in Iraq are a reminder of the devastation caused by Islamic terrorism throughout the region. Terror groups have existed for 1400 years in the area, starting from the time of the Prophet of Islam.
It was about ten years ago in 2014 when Daesh also known as Islamic State of Iraq & Sham (ISIS) had taken over Northern Iraq and swaths of Syria.
The mission of the Islamic terror group was to create a regional power and world wide Islamic Caliphate.
This is not unlike other Islamic terror groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah seeking to conquer.
Goal of Islamic Terrorism
The goal of ISIS as with other Islamic terror groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, is to gain control of people and land by becoming victorious through terror.
Since the destruction of ISIS by the President of Syria, remnants of the terror group and the devastation they caused still remain in the region.
Five large bombs were discovered hidden inside the well known al-Nuri Mosque in the city of Mosul in northern Iraq.
The bombs were set up by the ISIS militants during their rule over the Sham region.
ISIS is also referred to as ISIL which stands for Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
Offshoots of ISIL have also caused devastation in other parts of the world, such as the terror attack by ISIL-K in Russia.
The mosque which is most famous for its 12th-century leaning minaret was destroyed by ISIS in 2017.
The destruction of the mosque was the final stage of years of destruction of ancient Churches and Christian heritage and cultural buildings in the area.
Al-Nuri Mosque has been a focal point of the UN cultural agency UNESCO’s restoration efforts since 2020.
Massive Destruction
The UN agency said five large-scale explosive devices, designed for massive destruction, were found inside the southern wall of the Prayer Hall.
“These explosive devices were concealed within a specially rebuilt section of the wall,” according to UNESCO statement released regarding the matter.

“Iraqi authorities were promptly notified, secured the area, and the situation is now fully under control. One bomb has been defused and removed while the remaining four are interconnected and will be safely disposed of in the coming days.”

TURKEY COMPLICIT BY HELPING HAMAS TERRORISTS
Iraqi authorities have requested that UNESCO halt all reconstruction operations at al-Nuri Mosque.
As well for safety reasons a full evacuation of the entire complex will be required until the all the expolive devices are disarmed.
ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared “a caliphate” from the mosque a decade ago on June 29, 2014.
After that for 3 years, the Islamic militant group sought out to destroy minority groups in the region, such as the Yazidis and ethnic Christians or Syria and Iraq.
Minority group which predate the foundation of the religion of Islam in the entire region.
Once Syrian Forces with support from allies were able to contain the Islamic militants and force them to recede this lead to the destruction of the mosque.
ISIS fighters blew up the mosque during the battle to liberate Mosul in 2017, while today Mosul still remains in ruins.
The discovery of the explosive devices underscores ongoing challenges in clearing Mosul of explosives and revitalizing its devastated urban areas.
International efforts, supported by the United Nations, focus on mine clearance and aiding in the city’s recovery.
Despite progress, much of Mosul’s old city remains in ruins, marked by minefield warning signs, highlighting the complexity of post-conflict reconstruction of the city.
The after effects of Islamic terrorism can be felt for years, decades, and even centuries which is why it is paramount for the world to destroy all Islamic terror groups in every country.
